Invisible cities
book design and the craft of book making
As a part of the college course, we had the opportunity to work with one of the most popular illustrators and graphic designers in Croatia at the moment, Anja Sušanj.
During this collaboration we had the opportunity to design but also create an actual physical book. We had a bookbinding workshop as a part of book making process.
Main inspiration behind the final design is a result of reading and analysing the storyline. All of the fifty-five cities are divided into eleven thematic groups. Out of those thematic groups I extracted one motiv representing it which can be seen on the book cover. In addition, an extra book cover has been added using the cut-out printer. the cut out pieces are a metaphor for being windows through which you can have a peak to the invisible cities.
